Beautiful vintage Conran’s Habitat “Boston” pendant lamp, manufactured in France by SCE and preserved in its original retail packaging.

A striking example of European modernist lighting, this elegant fixture features a generously proportioned 12” white glass shade with a gracefully flared profile, complemented by sculptural polished brass fittings. The combination of luminous white glass, warm brass, and clean architectural lines gives the piece a timeless aesthetic equally at home in mid-century modern, Scandinavian, minimalist, or contemporary interiors.

Originally offered through Conran’s Habitat, the influential home furnishings retailer associated with British designer and entrepreneur Sir Terence Conran, this lamp represents the sophisticated, functional European design for which Habitat became internationally recognized.

The lamp retains its original manufacturer’s identification labels and Conran’s Habitat retail box, providing wonderful provenance for this increasingly uncommon vintage fixture.

ORIGINAL PLUG-IN CONFIGURATION

The pendant retains its white electrical cord terminating in a two-prong US plug, together with its matching brass ceiling canopy and hanging components.

Unlike a conventional hardwired pendant, this fixture is equipped with a plug-in electrical connection. The brass ceiling canopy features an uninterrupted flat rim with a central cord opening, suggesting an installation designed to conceal the cord at the ceiling.

The original installation instructions are not included, and the precise intended mounting configuration has not been established. Installation requirements should be evaluated before use.

CONDITION:

Vintage New Old Stock (NOS), retained in its original box and apparently never installed or used.

The fixture presents beautifully, with a glossy white glass shade and attractive original brass fittings. The brass exhibits some minor age-related spotting, surface wear, and oxidation consistent with decades of storage.

The original cardboard box displays noticeable storage wear, including creasing, discoloration, tape, and edge wear, while retaining its original identifying labels.

Electrical components have not been tested. Given the age of the fixture, the original wiring and electrical connections should be inspected by a qualified professional before installation or use.
