“Henredon's Artefacts. There is no collection of bedroom, dining room and occasional furniture to compare with it. Artefacts is entirely original, yet blends with multitude of styles and periods. Architectural in line, yet warm and informal in effect.

And inspired by ancient themes, yet contemporary in style.

A parsons-type tea-table (page 4), for example, is designed after a near east original of the eighteenth dynasty, circa 1500 B.C.

A magnificent canopy bed (page 34) has a subtle flavor reminiscent of the early 15th Century Ming Dynasty. 18th and 19th Century campaign styles are translated beautifully into contemporary designs. And a lovely two-door chest is an adaptation of a primitive "Dower Chest" (pages 6, 24).

Since lines are simple and unencumbered by elaborate ornamentation, this is a truly versatile collection. In fact, two special groups within the collection are designed to bunch and stack to fit individual space and needs perfectly (pages 18, 19, 20 and 41, 42).

Woods - including solid ash, knotty oak and olive ash burl - are impeccable. Finished in Cloister - a warm dark hue, Weathermark - a cool medium brown, or Imperial Tortoise - a lovely glazed effect. To complement woods, accents such as glass, Romarco and wrought metal are used in selected pieces.

The result is simple, classic beauty. A comfortable, contemporary style so versatile that it will endure the years.
