This is an original vintage restaurant menu from Schneithorsts in St. Louis, Missouri.
Menu cover is a high quality heavy stock with an effect to look like red leather. Large script logo on front with “Since 1917”. Inside there are 3 pages printed on a marbled linen paper. The first page is look at a history and the future of St. Louis with graphics of famous monuments.
Next there are 2 menu pages with appetizers, entrees, specialites, seafood, and some wine/champagne choices. “Oven Baked Swiss Steak” cor $2.95!
Menu is dated inside on bottom right of page to 1965.
Measures 11” tall x 10” wide closed.
Some history:
Opened in 1956 by Bud Schneithorst, the now closed German-themed restaurant was the latest from a family of St. Louis restaurateurs.
Schneithorst's is also credited as "one of the first St. Louis restaurants to start the brunch tradition," in a Post-Dispatch story from 1980.
