Set of 3 Nesting Side Tables

Wonderful vintage Mid-Century Modern wrought iron nesting tables, dating to approximately the 1950’s - early 1960’s. This graduated set of three features an especially striking sculptural design, with expanded diamond-mesh tops, large double-loop / circular ends, splayed legs, distinctive X-form cross bracing, and lower horizontal side support rails. The three tables nest neatly together when not in use and work equally well as patio/garden furniture, side tables, plant stands, or indoor accent pieces.

The construction and decorative ironwork are characteristic of high-quality American mid-century garden furniture of the period, closely related in style to designs associated with Salterini and other prominent makers of 1950’s wrought iron furniture. No maker’s label or identifying mark has been found, so these are being offered as Salterini style rather than attributed to a specific manufacturer or designer.

The tables are currently finished individually in orange, green, and yellow, creating a fantastic colorful vintage presentation. Areas of paint loss reveal what appears to be an earlier white/light-colored finish or primer beneath, indicating that the current colors were likely applied at some point during their history.

A particularly attractive and unusual set of 1950’s modernist garden furniture, with better lines and a more sculptural frame than the typical wrought-iron nesting table.

Largest: 17” length x 12” width x 20” height.

Middle: 15” x 12” x 17” height.

Smallest: 13” x 12” x 15” height.

CONDITION:

Excellent, vintage pre-owned condition. Age-appropriate wear, including scattered paint loss/chips, surface oxidation and other signs of outdoor/use history. The aged finish gives the set considerable character and has been left untouched rather than restored. See photos for details.
