This collection includes a framed photo of the USS Du Pont DD 152, a United States Navy Ship, on August 15, 1944.
There is also a US Navy USS Du Pont Shellback Certificate of Solemn Mysteries of the Ancient Order of the Deep from May 3, 1944. LT. F. H. Wemple USNR was the recipient of the shellback Imperium Neptuni Regis certificate for his performance in a war mission during World War 2. Certificate also has a raised seal on it.
The USS Du Pont was a Wickes-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II, later reclassified as AG-80. She was the second ship named for Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont. Du Pont escorted a convoy to Gibraltar and back to Boston between 25 January and 9 March 1944, and then returned to escort duty in the Caribbean. She left Norfolk 11 June in the screen of Albemarle sailing by way of Casablanca to Avonmouth, England, arriving 28 June. Du Pont returned to Boston 13 July with Albemarle who was carrying casualties from the Normandy invasion.

Photo measures 8 7/8” x 6 3/4” visible behind matting.
Shellback Certificate measures 20” x 15”.
CONDITION:
Excellent vintage, preowned condition. Shellback certificate has light wear and discoloration. Creases from being rolled up and stored. Frame of photo is slightly flimsy. Photo is in excellent, original quality with writing on the bottom identifying the ship and when the photo was taken. See photos for details.
