This is a special edition promotional sampler, from when CBS RECORDS NASHVILLE was launched by CBS’s purchase of Tree International.

“CBS Records Goes Country : The sale of Nashville publisher Tree International for $40 million means the Japanese now own ‘Heartbreak Hotel.’” A headline from a 1989 newspaper article. These songs were all a part of the purchase and the cassette was made to celebrate the occasion and given out during an Executive powwow in Boca Raton.

“Mick Jagger may be in town next week as CBS Records execs hold a powwow at the Boca Raton Hotel and Club. Other label heavies such as Billy Joel, Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen and George Michael could drop in for coffee, but we'll believe it when we see it” another excerpt from an April 1989 newspaper.
