Glass Siphon Seltzer Bottle

Antique Sparklets “B” soda siphon / seltzer bottle, made by Aerators Ltd., London, dating to approximately 1908–1919. A striking early example featuring a heavy clear glass footed bottle protected by its original tightly woven metal wire-mesh safety covering.

The siphon retains its original metal head, prominently marked “AERATORS / MAKERS / LONDON.” The collar also retains the wonderfully period operating instructions:

“IMPORTANT – DO NOT FILL THE BOTTLE ABOVE THE RED LINE”

and

“ADMIT GAS SLOWLY AND SHAKE VIGOROUSLY.”

Measures 13 1/2” tall.

This early Sparklets design was intended for use with the company’s carbon dioxide cartridges and is an especially attractive piece of Edwardian-era barware, with its substantial glass pedestal base, industrial woven-metal covering, and mechanical siphon assembly.

A scarce and highly decorative survivor of early 20th-century beverage technology, particularly appealing for collectors of Sparklets siphons, antique seltzer bottles, English barware, soda fountain equipment, breweriana, or Edwardian industrial design.

CONDITION:

Very good antique condition overall for a piece more than a century old. The glass bottle and heavy pedestal base present well, with no obvious cracks or damage observed. The woven wire covering remains remarkably intact overall, retaining its form with expected age-related oxidation, discoloration and surface wear. Glass tube inside is in tact. The metal siphon head and fittings show oxidation, patina, pitting and general wear consistent with age (missing charger). Maker’s marking and the engraved operating instructions remain clearly legible. See photos for details.

Please note that the screw-on Sparklets gas/cartridge holder that originally attached to the threaded fitting on the siphon head is missing, as shown clearly in the photographs. The exposed threads remain present. No attempt has been made to pressure-test or operate the siphon, and due to its age it is being offered strictly as an antique collectible/display piece rather than for functional use.
